You’re older than you’ve ever been, what now?
When you run out of money, we both know that you can go back to work for a while and rebuild your funds. Whatever you call work, be it begging, selling junk on ebay, or making platinum hit records, it all consumes one thing – Time.
To quote a song from They Might Be Giants, “You’re older than you’ve ever been, and now you’re even older, and now you’re older still.” As they point out that time is marching onward, and we have the knowledge that people can’t live forever. (None have so far, I’m hoping to be the first.)
With these two ideas in hand, shouldn’t we be trying to make the most out of the finite amount of time that we do have? I don’t know about you, but wanting to work my entire life isn’t quite my idea of a good time.
Plan ahead today, because it will be tomorrow in a couple minutes. It will be the day after in a couple hours. Before you know it you will be having another birthday. Blink once and you’re getting wrinkles and grey hair.
Do you want to be breaking your back when you are 65 years old and all the people working with you are in their twenties? I sure don’t.
Money is renewable, but time is not.
