It’s not a good deal if you don’t need it!
So the local Megamomart is having a sale on flashlights that could survive being dropped into a volcano at 3000° Fahrenheit! That’s great news right? Not quite.
Consider first if you have a flashlight. Does it work? Okay then use that, save yourself twenty bucks and use that. But your flashlight can’t handle the extreme temperatures? Your flashlight can’t be run over by a tank? Most importantly, who cares? If the flashlight you have now works, why not use that? Are you really going to be exploring billion degree volcanoes? If so I would recommend doing so during the day.
You don’t need to upgrade the services you use every time they come out with an advanced feature. While new and neat things are available, they are not necessarily so necessary for your business or personal life.
A more technology based idea would be cell phones. Do you want to get that new cell phone with laser linked GPS features? While it may be cool to have some silly new feature, just ask yourself two questions. First, does this new cell phone make phone calls? And more importantly does your current cell phone make phone calls? If the answer to the second is yes, then it doesn’t matter what the first answer is.
You probably don’t need a bunch of goofy features. You should really take your time to consider if they will actually help you out. Don’t cripple yourself in the business world, but then again don’t throw out your money to anything with sparkles. Just remember, it’s not a deal if you don’t need it!
