The Undying Quest for Knowledge
Nobody that I know of has obtained all of the knowledge there is to know. Sure some would like to think that they have, but they couldn’t be further from the truth. There is always more information out there. There is always more to learn.
There are basically two kinds of information that you don’t know. What you know you don’t and what you do. Allow me to clarify this potentially confusing statement.
1) Information you know that you don’t know. This is knowledge or skills that you are aware you do not posses. For me, this could be break dancing. I know it exists, but I don’t know how it works.
2) Secondly we have the worse of the two. Complete ignorance. If you don’t know something even exists, you obviously don’t know that you don’t know about it. This is the absolute worst lack of knowledge that can possibly exist.
It’s really easy for me to find out about something that I know I want to learn. Within seconds I can have thousands of webpages at my fingertips. I could go out and find an expert in the field, or perhaps I could walk on down to the library and load up on a bunch of books. Heck, I could sit right here and do the same thing from Amazon.
The second of these circumstances requires more of an active role. If you don’t know what you’re after, it sure is a lot harder to find it. In order to stay competitive you must constantly learn more and more. You must become a lifelong learner. I have a thirst for knowledge. How about you?
