Marketing with MySpace
I’m sure you have heard of the website MySpace before. It’s been in the news so often recently that there is pretty hard to miss. There is also Facebook for college kids, and MySpace’s forerunner Friendster.
These three websites are social networking sites that allow you to say ‘these 917,234 people are my friends’ regardless of if you know them in person or not. These people that are listed as your friend will all view your profile at least once. Then some of their friends will visit your profile and want to join your network.
The number of people you are connected to, or ‘friends with’ will grow exponentially after setting up a good seed amount and getting your profile seen.
So then if you were to put some sort of… I don’t know link on your profile page to your business, product, or webpage about ducks, you would be able to draw in a percentage of the people off of MySpace, Friendster, or Facebook off to your own site.
From there you could move in and send messages to everyone, post comments, join user groups, and send bulletins. You could be as direct or nonchalant as you want in your efforts.
Of course I’m not 100% sure that this method will work out as I described it. I have set up a profile and am trying it out right now. I am attempting to drive people to a product where I would get a small commission.
So far I have found it’s very easy to make friends. The first day I sent out about eighty invites to people in my niche. Now it’s a week later I have about 130 friends. How it will pan out, I will have to wait and see.
